SNMP Directives


<SNMP port>

  • Default - 161
  • Description - Beginning bracket for SNMP settings. Specifies the port on which the SNMP agent in IBM HTTP Server will listen.
  • Scope - Global
  • Notes - If you have problems with SNMP initialization be sure that there is NOT another SNMP Agent already running on your machine and listening on the same port.

SNMPcommunity

  • Default- Public
  • Description - The length of the SNMPcommunity names can be up to 64 characters, including special characters. There should not be a blank.
  • Scope - Global

SNMPenable

  • Default - SNMPenable is not specified.
  • Description - Enables IBM HTTP Server to be monitored by network management software that implements the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP is a standard for providing management information data.
  • Scope - Global
  • Notes - The absence of SNMPenable causes the server to start without SNMP enabled.

sysContact

  • Description - Contains information on how to contact the server administrator.
  • Scope -
  • Default - None.
  • Notes -

sysDescr

  • Default - None
  • Description - Specifies information about the IBM HTTP Server version and the SNMP version. Can be up to 256 characters in length, including special characters.
  • Scope -
  • Notes - If you do not include a description, sysDescr is filled in with various version and protocol support flags and similar details.

sysLocation

  • Default - "Internet"
  • Description - Specifies information about where IBM HTTP Server is located. Can be up to 256 characters in length, including special characters.
